The Social Service complex is owned by Salvation Army Housing Association and managed by The Salvation Army Social Services. It was purpose built in 1984 and is situated in the centre of Hull. The centre aims to preserve, as far as possible, each resident’s personal independence and patterns of life and offers a wide variety of services to men and women, there being 113 bed accommodation for:
  • 67 single homeless men
  • 8 single homeless women
  • 8 single person’s who have mental health issues
  • 4 self contained single person bedsits
  • Full resettlement programme accommodating 20 people
  • 2 supported independent living houses accommodating 6 people

Bedrooms accommodate one person and each room has private washing facilities. Accommodation for residents with mental health issues is on a separate floor; this comprises of a separate TV lounge with refrigerator and tea-making facilities for residents and their visitors. In addition, there are two TV lounges situated on the ground floor.

Meals
A fully equipped restaurant is available from 8am until 5pm, seven days a week offering a good quality and standard of food. Residents in direct access accommodation have meals provided in the restaurant. A varied menu and special dietary needs are met. Residents on the resettlement programme provide their own meals.
The ethos of The Salvation Army does not permit the consumption of alcohol beverages on the premises.

Other Facilities
Residents have access to laundry facilities between the hours of 1 pm and 10 pm, Monday to Saturday.
The Centre has a minibus which is used for Centre business, outings and resettlement.
The Centre also has a fully equipped Recreation room, a Computer room and a Multi-sensory room.
